December 28, 2006 Indian Proud Entertainment is gearing up for its first official release (Liberty Jones – Atlanta, Georgia) on January 9, 2007. The album burns through a set of southern rock searing originals and choice covers in an effort to re-introduce listeners to the unique blend of musicianship, humor and taste that has likened the band to a southern rock NRBQ. Atlanta, Georgia will be Liberty Jones’ first recording since 2001 (Permanent Records), and without a doubt, their most rocking effort to date. The band, which took a three year hiatus (having babies and such), came back to music intent on playing the music they love, as opposed to the music the record company devised. The result is a raucous collection of well-crafted, rocking originals and a sampling of some of the band’s favorite covers. This mixture of material is similar to the band’s legendary live shows, which, depending on the mood of the band, can range from 1 song to 80% of the set. So why does Liberty Jones place such an emphasis on covers? “We’ve got enough original material to put out 5 or 6 albums we’d be proud of, but we like to play covers,” says guitarist Mike Duckworth. “More importantly, the crowds really respond to covers. It’s a lot of fun to look out and see a couple of hundred people singing along while you play. Plus, it gives the audience a point of reference for the band and makes them more receptive to our original material.” Fun, well-paced, and well played, Atlanta, Georgia is a must-have for any music aficionado.
